Opportunity

The dictionary defines opportunity as: possibility due to a favorable combination of circumstances". What it doesn't tell you is where the circumstances are.

Everyone is talking about Susan Boyle, the Britain's Got Talent finalist. She has had her beautiful voice her entire life, and finally, given the opportunity, she has achieved acknowledgment, even fame, for her talent.

What unrecognized talents do any of us have? Will opportunity knock or do we need to make our own opportunity? Will we recognize it when presented, or only after it has passed? Opportunity is "lost" and "found", "given" and "earned".

When yours comes, will you know it?

Seems every where you look budgeting has become part of the topic. A few months ago our local TV station was doing a news story on a mother of three who paid cash for her groceries. I was stunned that this was newsworthy. C'mon had everyone gone that far off reality that paying cash for your groceries was a novel idea?? They even did a close up of her handing her cash to the clerk...

For years I have "planned five" when shopping. I look through the weekly grocery flyer and plan five meals. The other two days - we wing it - leftovers or the $5 pizza. I've always paid cash for groceries, a great way to stay on budget. Who'd have known I was ahead of my time!

Frugal Friday is going to be my attempt at sharing special deals, budget ideas and my favorite....freebies!

AMC $1 Movies! This summer AMC Movie Theaters will be having $1 children's movies at 10:00 a.m. every Wednesday. All movies have been released in the last year. Throw a juice box and morning snack in your purse - too early for candy and popcorn!
